What is permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation or cosmetic tattooing, is a revolutionary cosmetic technique which involves the use of a tattoo machine or hand tool, depending on client's choice of cosmetic procedure. These tools are designed specifically for permanent cosmetics and apply pigmentation into the dermis. It produces articulate designs that resemble makeup, which is commonly done on lips, eyes, and eyebrows. Permanent makeup is meant to fade naturally over time, requiring touch-ups in the future.

requirements

Permanent Makeup may also be identified as: permanent cosmetics, derma-pigmentation, and micro-pigmentation. The most appropriate term is cosmetic tattooing as procedures are applied under sterile conditions similar to those of a tattoo. The state of TN requires a tattooing license by the health department, and to be certified in Blood Borne Pathogens.

FAQ'S

does Permanent makeup hurt?

Everyone's comfort level is different. While topical anesthetics are used to numb the area throughout the service, some clients may still experience slight discomfort.

How long does it take?

The appointment takes approximately 3 hours. The first 30-45 minutes is a consultation consisting of paperwork, taking pictures, and discussing your desired look. A shape is outlined with your approval, and then topical anesthetics are applied before beginning the procedure. It is imperative that you are on time for your appointment.

Can I drive myself home after getting eyeliner done?

Most people do! Some swelling and redness are normal, and eyes feel heavy from numbing cream. As always though, plan accordingly.

How long does permanent makeup take to heal?

This will vary per client, but for most 1-2 weeks. Initially the procedure will appear to be very dark. Then as it heals it will soften up.

how many appointments will i need?

For brows, eyeliner, and lips it is a two-step process. The first appointment is to apply the initial color, shape, and foundation to the area we are working on. The 6-8 week touch-up completes the process by perfecting the color, saturation, and any minor imperfections during healing. In some situations, a third touch-up may be necessary to achieve the desired result.

How long will my permanent makeup last?

The longevity of your permanent makeup is in part, dependent on how you care for your new tattoo and your biology. Each service will last several years prior to needing a "touch-up". These services are considered "permanent" as they may fade with time, but particles of ink will always stay in the upper dermis forever.

  • Brows: 1-3 years before touch-up. (Depending on which brow procedure you choose)
  • Eyeliner: 2-5 years before touch-up.
  • Lips: 2-3 years before touch-up.

what should i expect at my permanent makeup appointment?

  • We start the appointment with a consultation on expectations and what service will work best for your needs. We pick the proper pigment for your service.
  • This where things get fun! We apply topical anesthetics to numb our working area and let it do its magic for about 15-20 minutes.
  • We draw a template that fits your bone structure and needs. This is usually done with a bold color, so we have clear lines of our working area. At this point, you get to approve the shape and give us feedback if you are unsure of what you are seeing.
  • The next step is starting your permanent makeup! The process is virtually painless, and you will be in love with the results. We never get tired of seeing the excitement and joy of our clients when they get to see their new makeup and realize they are already made up and ready to go!

Can you fix/touch-up someone else's work?

If you have had work done before by another artist, you must disclose prior to booking an appointment. While our artists are trained to fix pervious work, we need to know what to expect before hand. Depending on the client's preference and our recommendation, you may need a removal prior to your procedure. We recommend booking a separate consultation for corrections/concerns.

Do you offer discounts or referrals?

Yes! We are so grateful to each one of you for sharing our page, work, and name with your friends and family. To show our appreciation, if you refer 5 friends that make an appointment, you will receive a free touch-up as a referral reward. For every person you refer after your 6-week appointment, you will receive $20 off your yearly maintenance touch-up.
